Job Description and Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Bioinformatics Expert (Biologist or Genomics) will carry out analysis of biological datasets using statistical and machine learning software tools. We do not do any wet lab work at iCog Labs at this point; our biology work consists of using software tools to analyze data generated elsewhere. The initial focus of the work will be on analyzing genomics data (e.g. SNP and microarray gene expression), but later projects may involve other sorts of data such as EEG or fMRI brain imaging data. A good general understanding of molecular biology and genomics is required, along with a reasonable knowledge of biochemistry. Programming skill is valued; however, we are open to hiring someone with only basic programming skils, and providing on-the-job training in python programming. Knowledge of bioinformatics algorithms is valued but not required; again we are open to providing on-the-job training.
Most of the work will involve the OpenCog’s open source AI codebase focusing on machine learning based data analysis, computational linguistics, computer vision, mobile robots and cognitive robotics, cognitive architectures, gaming world and artificial general intelligence.
