Job Description and Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Computer Programmer (No of post 6): will develop and at times design complex software systems, generally involving Artificial Intelligent algorithms. Fluency of C++ and Python is required & knowledge of Java, Linux, data structures & algorithms is important, as is a good recollection of university-level mathematics. Perhaps the most important is the ability & eagerness to learn new things.
Eligible applicants: 1st Degree or Masters Graduates of Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology/Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields with Cumulative GPA above 3.2. Professional work experiences (>=5 years for BA and >=2 for MSC) on software programming/ project management and product management is mandatory.
Languages: Communication in Excellent English and Amharic
Most of the work will involve the OpenCog’s open source AI codebase focusing on machine learning based data analysis, computational linguistics, computer vision, mobile robots and cognitive robotics, cognitive architectures, gaming world and artificial general intelligence. *Although much of the work involves Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, prior knowledge of AI is not required.

As most of the work is executed via interaction by email and video-conferencing with our overseas collaborators (in the US and Hong Kong), the programmer has to preserve a highly active online communication channel and actively pursue good coordination, and working relationships with such relevant actors and overseas partners.
